Installing Source Insight

Installing Source Insight is very simple and straight-forward. For the most part, Source Insight is self-configuring.

To install Source Insight, insert the setup disk and run the setup.exe program on the disk.

Choosing a Drive for the Installation

The setup program will ask you for the name of a directory to install Source Insight in. The setup program will propose C:\Insight by default. (The current drive is substituted for C.)

Source Insight requires approximately 3 MB of hard disk space for a complete installation. Do not install Source Insight on a remote network drive. Source Insight's setup program will modify your registry on your own machine. An installation on a network drive will not work correctly for anyone else.

Installing on Windows NT

You should login to NT as the user who will use Source Insight before you run the setup program. The installation will store its settings in the section of the registry for the current user. If you install it as Administrator, then other users will not be able to run Source Insight.

Program Items are Created

If you are running Microsoft Windows NT 3.51+, then a program group will be created for you with the Source Insight application icon. If you are running Microsoft Windows 95 or 98, or NT 4, then a Source Insight item will be added to the Programs menu of the Start menu.

Source Insight will complete the setup when you run it. Read on for further instructions for running Source Insight for the first time.
