Source Insight 3.5 Trial Version Instructions

The Source Insight Trial version is a fully functional working copy of Source Insight, which includes online help. It will run for approximately 30 days. You will not be able to extend the trial period by simply installing it a second time.

If you purchase the registered version, your trial version can be unlocked with a serial number. None of your project information will be lost.

Instructions

Note: The Trial version will not delete any of your files if it expires. It simply won't run. When you register it, you will be able to pickup where you left off.

Note: Source Insight requires Windows 95/98/Me or Window NT 4.0 or Windows 2000/XP. It will not run on Windows 3.x.

Download Si3Setup.exe (about 3 MB). Save it to an empty directory on your machine.
Run Si3Setup.exe to install Source Insight on your hard disk.

Warning: If you already have version 2.1 and you want to continue to use it, we recommend that you install version 3.5 into a different directory.

Using Version 2.x with Version 3.x

You can use both version 3.x and version 2.1 together on the same machine. They each use separate registry settings and should not conflict. However you should follow these guidelines:

Install version 3.5 into different directory than version 2.1.
Don't run instances of v. 2.1 and v. 3.5 at the same time.
Creating separate projects for version 3.5 is recommended, although the project files are somewhat upward and downward compatible.

Loading Your Old Custom Settings

To load your old customizations, use the Options > Load Configuration command, click "Load" and navigate to your old global.cf file. The global.cf file is stored in the program directory where you installed version 2.x. You can use the Find Files command from the Windows Start menu to locate it.

To open your old projects, use the Project > Open Project command. Click "Browse" and navigate to your old project files. The project file has a .pr extension.
